Women are bombarded with images in the media these days showcasing impossible beauty standards for us to aspire to. Even world-famous models who are considered to embody the perfect figures that women are encouraged to aspire too are photo-shopped to these totally unrealistic standards. I wanted to be part of Boudoir Darlings Calendar as it was an excellent example of how “normal” women can be just as beautiful. As a mother I hate to think of the pressures my daughter will be under to look a certain way when she is growing up and I would hope that projects like this will normalise images of more natural in the media and start to make beauty standards much more realistic for her generation.

It was a liberating experience and despite my nerves, Shauna made me feel really comfortable in front of the camera. I have a calendar proudly displayed in my kitchen and love turning over the pages each month as each end every one of the darlings featured are different, unique and beautiful. I think a boudoir shoot is something every woman should experience at least once, although I dare say you’ll want to go again once you do!

I’ve also had the chance to work on the other side of Shauna’s camera as a Makeup Artist, she has a great eye and I she can really visualise and direct on how to achieve amazing results that highlight natural beauty. Simple makeup that highlights and enhances your best features and doesn’t make you look unrecognisable is what we want to achieve. You can rest assured and have confidence in the fact that the team will have you looking your very best self on the day and the results will be amazing.
